Overview:
In April 2021, the Washington State Legislature passed HB 1152, necessitating change in the composition of community health advisory boards throughout Washington state, including Walla Walla’s existing Community Health Advisory Board (CHAB). Accordingly, the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) recruited community members who would assure diversity and representation from marginalized communities. Following announcements advertised in August and September of 2021, the BOCC accepted applications from interested citizens. In March 2022, BOCC passed resolution 22-058 which re-established CHAB in accordance with new composition guidelines.
Appointed by the BOCC, acting as the Board of Health, the CHAB undertakes in activities outlined in RCW 70.46.140, as it exists or hereafter amended. Through the Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) and assessment work, the CHAB assists in determining the needs of county citizens and recommends priorities in services to the Board of Health.

Meetings:
CHAB Meetings are held on the SECOND Tuesday of the month from 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. in hybrid format, offered both in person and through teleconference software.
In person meetings are held at the County Public Health & Legislative Building Training Room (314 W Main St., Walla Walla). Virtual attendance details can be found in the corresponding meeting agendas.
April Meeting Notice: Due to election business requiring use of our regular meeting space, we will meet in the Juvenile Justice Center, 455 W. Rose Street, Walla Walla. Information for joining remotely can be found on the corresponding meeting agenda.
