Advisory Boards

Advisory Boards, Commissions, Councils, and Committees are comprised of volunteers who bring passion and expertise to various subject matters. Below are brief descriptions of advisory boards and commissions. Visit each page for further information. 

  • Accessible Community Advisory Committee (ACAC)
    The Accessible Community Advisory Committees (ACAC) Act was promoted by the Legislature to help communities be more welcoming and inclusive for persons with disabilities and to promote and provide equal access to the opportunities available to others. Their participation enriches communities, enhances the strength of the diversity of a community and contributes toward the economic vitality of the community. 
  • Walla Walla County Community Health Partnership (WWCCHP)
    The WWCCHP identifies and prioritizes health needs, services, and resource gaps within Walla Walla County. With diverse representation, representing various community sectors, the all-volunteer WWCCHP works with the Department of Community Health staff to develop the Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) 

  • Community Health Advisory Board (CHAB)
    Appointed by the BOCC, acting as the Board of Health, the CHAB undertakes in activities outlined in RCW 70.46.140, as it exists or hereafter amended. Through the Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) and assessment work, the CHAB assists in determining the needs of county citizens and recommends priorities in services to the Board of Health.

  • Council on Housing
    The purpose of the Council on Housing is to serve as the Continuum of Care for Walla Walla County and all incorporated cities within the County. The business and objectives include: 
    - To serve as catalyst for, and support, individuals, communities and jurisdictions through engagement, collaboration, and innovation; 
    - Housing policy advocacy on policies that impact our community at Federal, State and Local levels; 
    - Provide expertise and input on planning processes related to the housing continuum; 
    - Provide direction on homeless and housing issues and strategic planning; 
    - Inform and adopt the 5-year action plan for the housing continuum in Walla Walla County. 

  • Veterans' Relief Advisory Board (VRAB)
    The purpose of the Walla Walla County Veterans' Relief Program is to provide emergency assistance to all local eligible indigent veterans and family members pursuant to RCW 73.08.010. The Veterans' Relief Advisory Board is comprised of veterans from either local branches of nationally recognized Veteran's Service Organizations or the veterans' community at large, or both, to serve on the board. 
    Only veterans are eligible to serve as board members. 

  • Food Safety Advisory Committee
    The FSAC exists to assist the Walla Walla County Department of Community Health Food Safety Program in effectively managing education, communication, and feedback from the regulated community.
