Water Recreation Facilities
Any new pool construction in Walla Walla County must get approved by the Washington State Department of Health Water Recreation Program. They can be contacted at 360-236-3330.
Pool and spa inspections
During routine inspections WWCDCH staff focus on:
- Proper chemical balance to ensure disinfection
- Appropriate safety and emergency equipment
- Appropriate gates and fences surround the water facility

Water Recreation Illness
Swimming pools, spas, lakes, rivers, and oceans can all be potential sources of water recreation illness. Recreational water illnesses typically affect a person’s gastrointestinal tract (stomach and intestines), skin, and/or respiratory system. More information regarding these illnesses can be found here.
